The BRTData is a project of BRT+ Center of Excellence. Since 2012 its purpose is to collect an share information about Bus Rapid Transit experience around the world. Last week was recognized as one of the Top Planning Websites by Planetizen.
Planetizn selects the ranking according to the focus of the website, its professionalism, and accessibility of it, among other criteria. As they have explained, «Global BRT Data isn’t a new website, but it did overhaul its methodology in 2017 and it continues to be one of the best places on the Internet for transit advocates and transportation enthusiasts to measure, map, and compare transit use around the world». One of the most significant changes in the last years is the classification methodology. All BRT systems registered in BRTdata.org satisfy the standards established by the Institute for Transportation and Development Policy. Those standards have been updated in 2016, taking a step forward from the basic elements of a bus rapid transit system, defined on 2014, and considering now the safety, onboard fare validation, physical separation lanes.
Being in this ranking shows the great work done by World Resource Institute (WRI), a partner from BRT+ CoE. Hope this site and other projects from BRT+ continue helping planning in many cities.
